Deadman Wonderland is a horror action anime. The Plot begins with the protagonist Ganta who has been sentenced to death for false capital crimes with fake footage of him admitting he was behind the school murder as nobody believed him that the Red Man was the one who killed the students. He gets transported to a prison under a theme park similar to Superjail called Deadman Wonderland (hence the title). In the prison, Ganta meets an old childhood friend Shiro, who happens to be the Wretched Egg and the Red Man he doesn't know until the final arc of the manga. As for the candy, they are temporary antidotes that last for 3 days and every immate has to take one every 3 days otherwise that person dies as the poison that is contained in their tracking necklaces is injected into their bloodstream. Unfortunately this is only 12 episodes despite of budget issues in the Japanese anime industry.
Story 7.1/10 - Looks at bit close to the manga.
Graphics 7.5/10 - It's a whole lot Gorey, Children shouldn't watch it especially with Makina did an overkill to an inmate for stealing Ganta's candy.
Action 7.5/10 - The Ganta gun, Ganta's Branch of sin, is one of my favorites.
Final: 22.1/30 Toonami did a good job on this show.
